Fitting your Pedals

Fitting your pedals is a very simple process however if your not careful you could damage your bicycle, following these steps below and fit your pedals the correct way.

Step 1

Locate your pedals. Your pedals can be found in your component box or kit box along with other small items like your reflectors or seat post.

Step 2

You pedals are labelled “R” and “L,” (photo above ) for “Right” and “Left.”

Step 3

Choose the appropriate pedal and screw it into the correct crankarm by hand turning the pedal axle toward the front of the bike (both pedals thread in this direction).

Note that attemping to attach the wrong pedal into the wrong crankarm will result in the the thread on both the pedal and the crank arm being damaged. If the pedal will not screw in do not force it! You are probably trying to install the left pedal on the right crank arm or vice versa. If you damage the threads on either the cranks  or pedal axles you will need to purchase a new set.

Step 4

Thread both pedals into the crankarms as far as you can by hand. Then fully tighten them with the multi sized spanner provied in your component box.

It’s important to get the pedals good and snug so they cannot loosen from pedal pressure. Ensure that you tighten your pedals if you notice your pedals beginning to loosen after riding (photo above).
